Roula Vidali was born in 1975 in Athens, Greece. She studied sculpture at the school of fine arts in Athens and did her MA in sculpture at Wimbledon College of Arts, University of the Arts London with a scholarship from the Greek state scholarship Institution (I.K.Y.) She has also studied dance for many years. She now lives and works in London. Roula’s work portrays the impression of intimate objects with unusual combinations. She places the viewer in front of objects in a paradoxical way and combines natural and mechanical elements, giving the idea of a world where the limits between fiction and reality becomes indistinguishable. In that sense, Roula creates environments where she brings both organic and mechanic notions as well as leading the individual into a superficial space, which may be unintentionally blocked. This perceptive atmosphere is the outcome of a process where coexistence of antithetical forms and elements emerge. Roula has exhibited in London, Greece and her video work ‘zorbas’was selected for the “World one minutes Beijing 2008”, Museum of Modern Art ,China.

Roula Vidali nasce nel 1975 ad Atene, in Grecia dove studia scultura all’accademia di belle arti e si specializza al Wimbledon College of Arts di Londra, con una borsa di studio dell’I.K.Y. Studia anche danza per molti anni. Attualmente vive e lavora a Londra. L’opera di Roula coglie e ritrae l’impressione di oggetti intimi attraverso combinazioni inusuali e pone lo spettatore dinanzi ad essi in una maniera quasi “paradossale”, combinando elementi naturali e meccanici e dando l’idea di un mondo dove il limite tra realtà e finzione non è più distinto. In questo senso, Roula crea ambienti dove convivono nozioni naturali e meccaniche e dove l’individuo viene guidato in uno spazio superficiale che può essere involontariamente bloccato. Questa atmosfera percettiva è il risultato di un processo in cui emerge la coesistenza di elementi e forme antitetiche. Roula ha esposto a Londra, in Grecia e in Italia, e il suo lavoro video “Zorba” è stato selezionato per presenziare al “World one minutes Beijing 2008”, Museo d’arte moderna in Cina.
