“Magical Mystery Wood” Nicoz Balboa solo show (11th december 2010)

Nicoz Balboa was born in Rome. She graduated at the I.E.D.(European institut of design) of Rome and did a 3 month stage at the E.S.A.G. of Paris. In 1996 she start to self-produce her comics with some fanzines called Catholic Girls, Caccapiscia (PeePoo) and she went on the years with several minibook as Cuoricini, Pochi Intimi, Axe Rouge, Maison, Adesivi, Njcoz’s Girls. in 2005 she publish her first solo comic-album “Nicozrama” with the Centro Fumetto Andrea Pazienza. and in 2008 she publish another solo comick-book named “les larmes de crocodile” for the french publisher “DIANTRE!“ She takes part to lots of collective exhibitions as “beautiful dreamers” at the Angel Art Gallery of Milan with ( Ana Bagayan, Marcel Dzama, Greg Gossel, Alex Gross, Kukula, Takashi Murakami, Aya Takano and others), “whaleless” at Strychnin Gallery in Berlin and in London, “world of illustration” at Intoxicated Demons Gallery in Berlin, “don’t say motherfucker, motherfucker” at the MFGallery of New York, “Knock your socks off” at the Head Quarters Gallery Dirty Show” in Detroit, “immigrant punk” at Black Maria Gallery of Los Angeles, ” SKULLS OF ROME” in Rome organized by DRAGO editions, “Girls Adventures” at Arkel gallery in Bruxell, “Pop Invaders” and “Money-Lisa” at Mondo POP gallery in Rome. she did also 2personal exhibition in Paris (at the Toast Gallery and at the Tribal Act Gallery ). Her comics, artworks and illustrations appeared also on magazines as the french Target Magazine, RUGGED (the Carhart magazine), KULT magazine, Stripburger, the spanish LOOK DE BOOK and on the PDF formats as in the magazine Ideafixa (www.ideafixa.com) or as a PDF solo comic-album on electrocomics.com named LUNATICA. or such magazines as Slow Food interwieved her, the art-site juxtapoz.com made and online article about her. illustrationmundo.com and the italian slap-press.com refered her website. She’ve realized a 2minutes cartoon with the french group Le dernier Cri for the film “les religions sauvages“. She often work for rock bands doin’ rock-posters ( Unsane, Motorama, the Normals, the Intellectuals, Bloody Hollies, the Smackdown etc…)

Nicoletta Zanchi in arte Nicoz Balboa è nata a Roma, si è diplomata all‘ Istituto Europeo di Design (I.E.D.) di Roma, con uno stage al E.S.A.G. di Parigi. Vive e lavora a La Rochelle (Francia) dove gestisce una piccola galleria di pittura la True Hate Art gallery (truehateartgallery.com). Nel ‘96 inizia ad autoprodurre alcuni suoi fumetti con diverse fanzine: Catholic Girls e prosegue con nuove produzioni come CaccaPiscia e minicomics come Cuoricini, Pochi intimi, Axe Rouge, Maison, Adesivi, Nicoz‘s Girls. Pubblica illustrazioni e fumetti su Lolabrigida, Schizzo immagini (per cui realizza la copertina del numero 9), Stripburger (slovenia), RockStar, il cuore, LookDeBook (spagna), Target Magazine (francia) e ultimamente su XL di Repubblica, su i “signor bonaventura: casi e le fortune di un eroe gentile” (catalogo della mostra collettiva dedicata a Sergio Tofano e sulla rivista in pdf Idea Fixa (www.ideafixa.com). Nel 2005 pubblica l‘albetto monografico Nicozrama con il Centro Fumetto Andrea Pazienza. nel 2007 pubblica virtualmente un libro a fumetti intitolato “LUNATATICA”sul celebre sito di fumetti in pdf: Electrocomics (electrocomics.com) curato dalla disegnatrice tedesca Ulli Lust. e nel 2008 il ibro a fumetti “les larmes de crocodile” per le edizioni francesi: DIANTRE! Ha partecipato a molte mostre collettive tra cui “beautiful dreamers” alla Angel Art Gallery di Milano con ( Ana Bagayan, Marcel Dzama, Greg Gossel, Alex Gross, Kukula, Takashi Murakami, Aya Takano and others), “whaleless” alla Strychnin Gallery di Berlino, a Londra, “world of illustration” alla Intoxicated Demons Gallery di Berlino,”Don‘t say motherfucker, motherfucker” alla MFGallery di New York, “Knock your socks off” alla Head Quarters Gallery di Montreal, “Immigrant punk” alla Black Maria Gallery di Los Angeles, al “Dirty Show” di Detroit, “Skulls of rome” a Roma e organizzata da Drago edizioni,”Girls Adventures” alla Arkel gallery di Bruxell, “Pop invaders” e “Money-lisa” alla galleria MondoPop di Roma. Ha all‘attivo anche due mostre personali a Parigi (alla Toast Gallery e alla Tribal Act Gallery) e una a Berlino presso Cell63 gallery. I suoi lavori e le sue illustrazioni sono state pubblicate su diversi magazine nazionali ed internazionali come: il francese Target Magazine, RUGGED (the Carhart magazine), KULT magazine, Stripburger, XL di Repubblica, lo spagnolo LOOK DE BOOK . In formato pdf magazine come Ideafixa (www.ideafixa.com) un fumetto per electrocomics.com dal nome LUNATICA.  Alcuni magazine hanno pubblicato sue interviste e recensito il suo blog come Slow Food, il sito d’arte juxtapoz.com. illustrationmundo.com e l’italiano slap-press.com. Ha realizzato un’animazione video di 2minuti con il gruppo francese Le dernier Cri per il film “les religions sauvages“. Spesso lavora per rock band realizzando artworks e poster ( Unsane, Motorama, the Normals, the Intellectuals, Bloody Hollies, the Smackdown etc…)
