Claudia Giannuli was born in Bari in 1979. She got her degree in Fine Arts in 2004 then she decided to keep herself away from the Accademy and find her personal style. Her “NU DOLLS” (as the artist Guido Corazziari defined them) are absolutely white creatures, cynical and irriverent, half-children, half-women. Their whiteness and purity are opposed to their sense of deep solitude, their dramatic existence in which man is just a walk-on actor, crucified at the right moment. The Nu Dolls stare at us proudly. Sometimes it seems they’re laughing at us like innocent and erotic post-atomic temptresses. Clay has always been her favorite material. In the last years Claudia has been mixing it with resin, wood, plastic, creating settings just like theatrical stages scrupulously built in scale. A little mnemonic architecture, halfway between fiction and reality.

Claudia Giannuli nasce il 12 luglio del 1979 a Bari dove vive e lavora.  Conclusi gli studi ha impiegato qualche anno fisiologico per “disintossicarsi” dagli accademismi e imboccare la sua strada. Le “NU DOLLS” (come le ha definite Guido Corazziari) un po’ bimbe un po’ donne mature ciniche e insolenti sono di un bianco assoluto. Il loro candore e la loro purezza lottano con un’ espressività che ha il sapore della solitudine profonda, della drammaticità dell’esistenza in cui la figura maschile è ridotta a comparsa, e nel momento giusto “messo in croce”. Sfidano fiere il nostro sguardo e a tratti sembrano burlarsi di noi, senza pudori, erotiche seduttrici ed innocenti allo stesso tempo. L’argilla è la sua materia da sempre. Negli ultimi anni la contamina con l’utilizzo di resina, legno, plastica, creando ambientazioni che ricordano mini-set teatrali minuziosamente costruiti in scala, piccole architetture mnemoniche, a metà strada tra realtà e finzione.
